WATER TEMPERATURES & VISIBILITY
The best visibility has always been reported during the green season, averaging from 35 ft – 100 ft / 10m – 30m. Temperatures will also average from 75 F to 84 F / 30C to 32 C, which makes of diving the usual tropical plunge! 3mm wetsuit is plenty for temperature protection, and for some of us, summer shorts will do the job just fine.
TRADE SHOWS PARTICIPATION
Coming next DEMA Trade show, Orlando USA, from the 8th to the 11th of November 2006. Come to our booth and see what Ocotal Beach Resort is all about; dive packages, sport fishing, snorkeling and all the land adventure you can handle.

LATEST MEMORABLE ENCOUNTERS
All around the world, people dream of the perfect underwater encounter. Here, divers can be heard talking about encountering humpback whales, whale sharks, manta rays and giant schools of cow nose rays, all in one dive!
And while some of us have a crazy imagination about the things we can see underwater, Mother Nature is the one with the last word. So, let me tell you how blessed we have been by Mother Nature about some of the things our divers have been encountering while diving with us.
During the month of May we have encountered whale sharks in numerous locations. The whale shark’s sizes have been documented around 15 - 20 feet / 6 – 18 meters long. Cleaning and feeding are the two main behaviors observed by the tourist while diving with them.
Hump Back whales have been seen on site as they cruise from their journeys to colder waters. Keeping in mind Costa Rica happens to be one of their destinations for mating and feeding. Reports are documented all year around where people see mother whale with their calves. Bull sharks! some people believe that this animals are potentially aggressive, not in Costa Rica. During the Green Season we open the opportunity of visit the Bat Islands, where the encounters with the magnificent animal such as, Bull sharks, mantas, whale sharks, schools of cow nose rays, big schools of big eye jacks etc. Visit our photo gallery; there you can see pictures taken by professional photographer and amateurs.
BAT ISLANDS MARINE NATIONAL PARK
Right on shore from Santa Rosa National Park, Peninsula Santa Elena, there are a group of islands called Bat Islands (Islas Murcielagos). Their beauty is like no other around the globe and they are a big attraction for scuba divers, sport fishermen and commercial fishermen. It’s been almost a year since the Bat Islands were considered a Marine National Park. And now divers can enjoy the visit to the park through any of the diving facilities and with specific permit from the Park’s office.
Typically during the months of January, February, March and April visiting the park is restricted due to weather conditions. During this time, strong winds from come from the north making Papagayo Gulf an unsafe place for scuba divers.
Currently weather conditions are allowing us to book trips to the islands. Keep in mind that the Bat Islands is a place where encounters with Bull sharks, mantas, whale sharks, and hundreds of schools of fish are the highlight of the trips.
For more details on dive sites and experience required to dive the Bat Islands visit our dive site map on this web page, or contact the dive shop at diving@ocotaldiving.com
WEATHER CONDITIONS.
We are just starting the green season. It is called the Green Season because of the explosion of green colors all over the cost line. For the next few months our local area will present sunny mornings and slightly rainy afternoons. Keep in mind the following suggestions as they become handy once you are here enjoying a peace of paradise.
Sunscreen (45 + protection)
Hats.
Light clothing (shorts, short sleeve shirts etc… summer stuff!!).
Sun glasses.
Lip protection with sunscreen.
Insect repellant.
GREEN VERSUS DRY SEASON…
Most of our visitors come from countries where they get the pleasure of seeing the changes of the four seasons. In Costa Rica we only have two main seasons, rainy season (green season) and dry season. The pictures above talk on their own and there is very little to say once you see the difference. For most of us that live on this part of the country, this happens to be our favorite time of the year. The magic of hundreds of green colors and the richness of the area will take your breath away.

ENTERTAINMENT
Music, dancing, and night alive shows are activities planned by the hotel organizers. Anything from soft music to a serious tango are some of the activities that full fill the Sun Set Balcony. The perfect evening with a nice and soft ocean breeze, fantastic cuisine, will make of your day, a day to remember.

We are looking forward to take you to a big box of surprises, where you will see more things than you ever imagined.
